Adding Flight Extras, Seats, and Baggage
Policy on Flight Add-Ons
To ensure the best price and instant confirmation, all post-booking flight additions—including extra hand/hold luggage, seat selection, and in-flight extras (meals, priority boarding, lounge access)—must generally be managed directly through the operating airline.
Purchasing directly with the airline ensures the customer pays no third-party admin fees.
Baggage: It is significantly cheaper to add luggage online in advance rather than paying gate/desk prices at the airport.
Seats (Free Allocation): If a customer chooses not to pre-book seats, the airline will automatically assign their seats for free during the standard online check-in window.
Exception: Booking Seats via On the Beach
For select airlines, the business can assist the customer with booking seats. To see if this is an option for their flight, instruct the customer to head to the Flight Extras section in their account and then to Add Seats.
Admin Fee: If the customer requests the business to process the seat booking on their behalf, an admin fee of up to £45.00 applies. It is highly recommended to direct the customer to the airline to avoid this cost.
How the Customer Can Add Items (Self-Serve) Instruct the customer to take the following steps to manage their additions directly with the airline:
Log into My Bookings.
Navigate to View and Manage Booking and select Flight Extras (or Add Bags / Add Seats). This page provides the Airline Reference (PNR) and a direct link to the airline's official website.
Alternatively, the customer can locate their Airline Reference on their Flight Voucher and go to the airline's website manually.
On the airline's website, go to the Manage Booking section, log in using the Airline Reference and passenger surname, and complete the purchase.
Paperwork and Confirmation
Any bags, seats, or in-flight extras purchased directly through the airline will not appear on the On the Beach booking confirmation paperwork or in the customer's portal.
These additions are permanently logged in the airline's internal system and will be clearly visible on the customer's boarding passes once they check in.
Early Ticketing for Long-Haul/Scheduled Airlines (Seats, Bags, Upgrades)
Overview For scheduled and long-haul airline partners, customers must have their flights officially "ticketed" by the business before they can access their booking directly with the airline. Once ticketed early, the customer can visit the airline's website to pick seats, add extra luggage, or purchase cabin upgrades.
Applicable Airlines This early ticketing process applies to the following scheduled airlines: Air Canada, Air Mauritius, American Airlines, Bangkok Airways, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Eva Air, Finnair, Gulf Air, Icelandair, JetBlue, KLM, Lufthansa, Malaysia Airlines, Oman Air, Precision Air, Qatar, Royal Brunei, Singapore Airlines, Sky Express, SriLankan Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic.
Self-Serve/Bot Action: Requesting Direct Airline Access To unlock the booking on the airline's system, direct the customer to request early ticketing via their account:
Log into My Bookings.
Select the upcoming holiday and navigate to the Make Changes menu.
Select Manage Flight.
Choose the Add seats or bags option and submit the request.
Post-Request Process
Once the request is submitted, the specialist team will issue the official flight tickets.
The customer will receive an email confirmation containing their official Airline Locator / PNR code.
The customer can then use this PNR code to log into the operating airline's official website or app to purchase their seats, bags, or upgrades directly.
Flight Class Upgrades
Policy and Process
Flight class upgrades are subject to availability and will incur an additional cost.
Upgrades must be formally quoted by the amendments team before any changes are made.
No changes are finalized or applied to the booking until the customer explicitly approves the quoted cost.
Bot Action / Customer Routing
Inform the customer that flight upgrades require a custom quote from the amendments team.
Direct the customer to contact the business directly via Live Chat to submit their flight class upgrade request so an agent can generate their quote.
